Terms of Service
The terms that govern the use of our website and telehealth counseling services.
Last updated: September 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing this website or engaging the counseling services of Lumos and Nox Counseling, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the website or our services. These terms apply to all visitors and clients.
About Our Services
Lumos and Nox Counseling provides telehealth psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families located in the state of Texas. Services are delivered by Katherine Roberts, LMFT-Associate, under the clinical supervision of Carolyn Mehlomakulu, LMFT-S, ATR-BC. Therapy is a collaborative process and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Professional Credentials and Supervision
Katherine Roberts is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate practicing under the supervision of a licensed LMFT-S supervisor in accordance with Texas licensing requirements. Clinical work is reviewed as part of routine supervision to support the quality of your care.
Telehealth Informed Consent
By participating in telehealth sessions, you acknowledge that counseling is delivered through a secure video platform rather than in person. You agree to join from a private, safe environment within Texas and to maintain a reliable internet connection. The risks and benefits of telehealth will be reviewed with you during the intake process.
Scheduling, Cancellations, and No-Shows
Sessions are scheduled by appointment. We kindly request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee. Consistent attendance supports the therapeutic process.
Fees and Payment
Current session fees are listed on our Services and Fees page. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. We accept private pay and can provide a superbill upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement. A limited number of sliding-scale spots may be available based on financial need.
Emergency and Crisis Services
Lumos and Nox Counseling does not provide emergency or 24-hour crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, are at risk of harming yourself or others, or need immediate assistance, call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988.
Confidentiality and Its Limits
Information shared in therapy is confidential within the limits defined by Texas law and professional ethics. Exceptions include suspected abuse or neglect, imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others, and certain legal requirements. These limits will be discussed in detail during your informed consent process.
Client Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, to engage in the therapeutic process honestly, and to communicate any concerns about your care. You are responsible for your own actions and decisions outside of sessions. Therapy is most effective when approached as an active, collaborative partnership.
Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and blog articles, is the property of Lumos and Nox Counseling and may not be reproduced or distributed without written permission. Client-created content shared during therapy remains your own.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lumos and Nox Counseling and Katherine Roberts shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of this website or our services. Our total liability is limited to the fees paid for the service in question.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. The most current version will be posted on this page with the updated date. Your continued use of the website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing Law
These terms and any dispute arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Katherine Roberts is licensed to practice in Texas only.
